Message from the Mayor:

Bonfire Picnic in the Park a big success

The July 16th "Bonfire" event in Hardy Brinly Park was once again well attended and a big success. The weather was a little hot and muggy but that did not seem to curb the fun and activities. Adults and children all seemed to have a great time. The band, like last year was great and the food was free. Lets do it again next year!

Binly Park improvement plans await decision on Federal Grant Application

Application for a Federal Recreational Trails Grant to be used for improvements to Hardy Brinly Park was submitted by Woodland Hills in February of this year. The grant, if approved, would make available $100,000 of matching funds that would enable the City to move forward with Phase 1 of the Hardy Brinly Park improvement project. Improvements included in Phase 1 are the park trail including new bridges and a gazebo/gathering area near Pope Lick Creek. The grant and matching funds, that include a $25,000 Neighborhood Development Grant sponsored by former 19th District Councilman Hal Heiner and supported by present Councilman Jerry T. Miller, may fall short of providing 100% of the funds needed to complete Phase 1 but should be more than enough to begin planning and construction of a significant portion of the project before year end or by Spring 2012. Going forward subsequent grants and fund raising projects will be sought to enable the City to fund the entire project.
